(1900-1977) Уотерс, ЭтелАктриса, певица. Первая негритянская актриса в США, выступившая в главных ролях в театре. Играла в бродвейских мюзиклах "Африкана" ["Africana"] (1927), "Черные дрозды" ["Blackbirds"] (1930) и "Под приветствия тысячных толп" ["As Thousands Cheer"] (1933); в ее исполнении имели бурный успех песни "Штормовая погода" ["Stormy Weather"] и "Дайна" ["Dinah"]. Выступала и как драматическая актриса.
